Oscars Fashion

Hi all!

Now I don't want you all getting sick of these fashion posts but it is the season for it, what with fashion week around the world and all the award shows. The Oscars is a biggie so it would be silly of me to miss it, so hope you enjoy my review of the best-dressed. :-)

Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth wore a beautiful caped gown by Tom Ford and I found this to be the most fashion forward dress on the red carpet, it' not your typical princess or glamorous gown but it still looks amazing! I also love the cuff she wore, I want one but on a non-celeb budget. ;-)

Michelle Williams

Michelle wore a beautiful orange/red tulle gown by Louis Vuitton with peplum detail and kept the jewellery simple. I LOVED this look, I think its just so different but still so glam, and it looks great on her. Seriously one of my favs this year.

Penelope Cruz

Penelope wore this beautiful lavender off the shoulder Armani Prive organza dress, and she looks like a princess. :-) I also think the styling of the hair really suits this whole look and she has just enough bling which every princess needs. ;-)

Angelina Jolie

Angelina wore this black velvet Atelier Versace dress which is sooo her. The colour, the leg on display, it's her signature 'I know I look good' look! Shes very VaVaVoom. lol

Emma Stone

Emma wore a gorgeous red Giambattista Vali gown and she got it spot on in my books, I love the big bow on the neck and the up-do. She has done really well this awards season.

Milla Jovovich

Milla wore this gorgeous one shoulder Elie Saab gown, paired with minimal jewellery and a chic up-do. You can never go wrong with a bit of Elie Saab!

Well guys hope you all liked my mini review on the best dressed. What do you think of the Oscars fashion, do you have a favourite? Do let me know your thoughts, I love reading all your comments. :-)

London Fashion Week - The Best Bits!

Hi all!

Looks like I've been unwittingly bit by the fashion bug and I have another fashion week post for all you lovely people. Of course this is about London Fashion Week and I knew I had to write about it for all the fashionistas out there! lol

So London Fashion Week finished a few days ago and I wanted to wait till the end  to blog about it. I thought rather than talk about every show I would blog about my favourites and show you guys some pretty pictures too. :-) So I spent ages looking through pictures and videos and there were some stand out winners and some fabulous clothes, so sit back, relax put some heels on and enjoy darlings! HeHe.

PPQ

PPQ is known for being fun and young but this show was more sophisticated and grown up. There were thick wool and tweed coats one one side and then on the other the evening dresses were very floaty and beautifully draped.

I can definitely see the celebs wearing these dresses they are so pretty and flow so beautifully, they are stand out pieces.

Temperly London

As a Middleton favourite I was really looking forward to what they would come up with and they did not disappoint. The show was inspired my 18th century religious paintings and tapestries and it was stunning! There were feminine embellished dresses and Cossack-inspired head wear.

The clothes have great structure and are so elegant and feminine, anyone could wear these and feel like royalty!

Matthew Williamson

Matthew Williamson celebrated 15 years of his label at fashion week and showcased dresses with his signature print work. There was a mix of tailored trousers and light dresses which floated down the catwalk.

What I really enjoyed about this collection was the injection of colour because after all this is an autumn/winter collection but its so bright and eye-catching and I have to say I adore the print work!

Burberry Prorsum

This show was one which attracted all the big names and why not, this brand has become one of Britain's biggest fashion houses, and undoubtedly a fashion force to be reckoned with! There was a country inspiration behind the designs, with tweed coats and jackets with traditional Burberry material.

The clothes are so effortlessly chic and cool, its the kind of style you want to wear but are worried you cant pull off! lol The ending of the show was the best bit,  it had all the models holding umbrellas as confetti fell to the soundtrack of thunder and rain...loved that!

McQ Alexander McQueen

This was the debut fashion show of McQueen's secondary line McQ and of course it had to be done on British soil. I absolutely love Alexander McQueen, the avant garde style the colours the cuts...the clothes are art! The shows are always so theatrical and just an amazing spectacle to behold, I have to say this was my favourite show! It was like you were in a forest with the feel of the show and the autumn leaves on the floor.

There was a mix of military coats and stunning ball gowns on the catwalk both beautifully created by Sarah Burton, well done to her!  I really do love everything I have seen from the range and this is a great fashion house which has had well deserved success around the world and I'm sure this collection will be a hit too. :-)

What do you guys think of the shows that I chose, do you like them too? I would love to hear what you all think, do let me know. :-)

Haul!

Hi all!

So I've been at it again...buying things I don't need. But I say if we only ever bought things we needed not wanted, life would be very boring!! lol

I placed an order on Cheap Smells.com, they had a limited offer where some Nars products were half price!!!! So how could a girl resist. I also picked up a nail polish I have wanted for ages, but even though I saw quite a few other lovely things I restrained myself! lol. You should check out the website as they have really great deals on loads of things (here) plus all prices include delivery.

So fist thing I got from the site was this beautiful Orly nail polish in the very popular colour 'Rage'. It's just such a pretty rose gold colour and ever since seeing it on a blog a while ago I've wanted it. Can't wait to give it a go and wear my matching rose gold jewellery! :-)

The two Nars products I got were a Nars multiple in Riviera and a Nars single eyeshadow in Galapagos.

Riviera is a beautiful rosy pink colour with a bit of shimmer in it, but not a disco ball, I think it would give a lovely sheen to the cheeks. I chose this colour because although I own loads of pink blushes I don't have many cream ones and none in this colour. Also I can use it on the eyes and lips so can't wait to try it and see how it works.

Galapagos is a beautiful warn chocolate brown with a shed load of gold glitter in it, it's such an amazing colour. I tried to capture the glitter, but it's way prettier in person. I love this shadow because again I don't own anything like this and I can tell it will look great on the lids with some brown liner.

I also picked up 2 clothing items, one from H&M and the other from Zara, and both were such bargains!

I got this pink skater dress from H&M for only £14.99, I think this is such a great price plus the colour is fab, surprisingly I don't have many pink clothes even though I love the colour! And I think this paired with some gold accessories would be a perfect summer look.

I got this brown 100% Cashmere jumper in the Zara sale for £19.99 reduced from £69.99!!! This was a deal too good to be missed and I've wanted something cashmere for ages, its soo soft and comfy. If you like it check out your local Zara, you can probably still pick one up.

Hope you liked my haul. Let me know your thoughts on my purchases. :-)

Victoria Beckham a/w 2012

Hi all!

I really do love Vicky B and her style, she may look moody in pictures and hardly ever smiles but you cannot deny the woman has style, and she seems like a lovely person! She is impeccably dressed whatever the occasion, even a trip to the shops! Everything she picks out to wear compliments her figure and looks amazing, as do the clothes and accessories she designs.

She recently showed her autumn/winter 2012 collection at New York Fashion week, both the normal range and her cheaper Victoria, by Victoria Beckham range which is fairly new. Both shows have been a success with fashion critics and so I thought I'd share some of the looks with you.

Victoria Beckham

This is the original range, which features the more expensive clothes and accessories. The collection had 22 dresses with a distinct military theme running through the show and a baseball theme here and there. Victoria said she was inspired by her sons baseball shirt and also by Davids beanie hats, which some models were sporting.

The clothes are beautifully designed and are very fitted and the cuts and designs create a great silhouette which is very flattering. I also love the colours and the finer details like the peter pan collars and the gold studs. I really like how her dresses are trendy and fit really well but are lady like at the same time, I think she achieves this by having the dress stop below the knee.

And I have to mention the latest addition to Victoria's handbag collection..the Harper bag, how cute is that! It's a fold over satchel with two front pockets and gold hardware...very chic indeed, but it's not cheap though, costing £1.700 and more it's definetly for people with a bit more cash in the bank. But I have to say I would love to have a handbag named after me, ah to be a child of the rich and famous! lol.

Victoria, by Victoria Beckham

There were 20 dresses in this collection which is cheaper and than her original line and more of a relaxed line of clothes. The dresses have fun prints and are more flowy and I think aimed at a younger market. The colours used were also beautiful, you have your pastels and autumnal colours which look great with the individual designs of the dresses. I think these dresses are so cute and I can definitely see celebs wearing them in the spring and summer.

Overall I'm very impressed with Victoria's designs, she has managed to use her sense of style and fashion to make dresses which women feel confident and look amazing in. Well done to her for all the success in such a short space of time! :-)

Hope you like this post, what do you think of the clothes? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Red Carpet Round-Up

Hi all!

So as you may be aware a few days ago we had two major red carpet events, one being the prestigious BAFTA ceremony in London and second the cool Grammy awards in LA. So I thought I'd share some red carpet pics of the stars and let you know what I thought. Enjoy! :-)

BAFTAs

I have to say I was quite underwhelmed by the fashion at the BAFTAs this year, now I know it's dull and cold in England but that's no excuse, its an awards show after all! I really wanted to see fabulous dresses every where but alas there weren't that many. But there were some good outfits in the mix, my favourites were as follows...

Michelle Williams

I love Michelle Williams style, she's always so cute and wears a lot of vintage inspired looks which suit her well, especially with the pixi cut. Also Michelle isnt one to follow what everyone else is wearing or doing! I loved the simplicity of her dress and the quirky clutch she was carrying...it's a book! And the dress was made by...wait for it....H&M!!!! She wore a high-street dress, mind you it was customised for her but I think she deserves kudos for doing something a bit different.

Melissa George

Melissa just oozes glamour and she's gorgeous so anything would look great on her. I loved this Victoria Beckham dress it looked amazing, it fit her so well and the fabric is such that it hangs beautifully. Also her hair and make-up were just right to compliment the dress.

Merly Streep

Merly Streep is the lady of the moment winning awards all over the place for her amazing role as Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady. She looked especially stunning in her Vivienne Westwood gown (a British nod to her role), can't wait to see what she wears next.

Penelope Cruz

Penelope Cruz added some much needed colour to the red carpet in her her custom Armani Prive gown with chopard jewellery. I love the colour on her and the unusual top half of her gown.

Grammy Awards

Now the Grammy's is infamous for its red carpet and what celebs will wear, this is the time to take a risk and be creative and 'out there'. You can always guarantee the red carpet will be fun and unpredictable think lady gaga in the egg! It never disappoints in the entertainment department but i think some celebs take personal style a bit too far, as you will see.

Taylor Swift

Taylor wore a Zuhair Murad gown which is beautiful, the colour is amazing on her and I love the detail on the embroidery. She looked very pretty.

Adele

Adele generally sticks to the same style, which is fine because it looks great on her but at the Grammys she changed it up a bit. She debuted blonder hair which looks amazing on her and I loved her gown designed by Giorgio Armani. I think the whole look was stunning, the hair, make-up and dress suited her perfectly, and she sparkled like a star while picking up her 6 Garmmys!!! Well done!

Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth looked chic as always in her Stella McCartney gown, she kept it simple with the hair and make-up but still looked amazing. I guess there's a reason she's an A-List celeb (aside from the acting! lol).

Now...you cant have the good without the bad and let me say there were a few questionable fashion choices, I'll show you what I mean and you can judge for yourself.

Fergie

Fergie wore Jean Paul Gaultier, and I really don't like it, I think it's the neon orange that just screams out at me. Now I know it's haute couture and it's meant to be very artistic and fashion forward but it would have looked soo much better in black or a darker colour, don't you think?

Nicki Minaj

Now I really don't know what to say about Nicki Minaj and this Armani cloak. Lets just say that she wanted to cause controversy and she did!

Lady Gaga

I had to have a picture of her, it wouldn't be crazy fashion without Lady Gaga. She didn't walk the red carpet but she was at the event in her custom Versace dress thing! Sheer madness! lol

Now there were a lot more pictures but this post would be really long if I included everyone! lol. I hope you enjoyed my red carpet round-up, do let me know what your thoughts on the fashion!!

Valentines Gifts - For Her

Hi all!

So this is second instalment for all the men who need a little help when it comes to buying gifts, a lot of the time they don't have a clue what you want no matter how many hints you give them. It's in their nature! lol. So this gift guide is designed for them to get you something you would love, so try and direct them to this to give them a little help.

Chocolates and Flowers

This is the classic gift to get the lady you love, it may be old school but girls always appreciate a lovely bouquet of flowers and a luxury box of chocolates! I suggest heading to Thornton's as they do lovely chocolate boxes and they can wrap them up for you too for a small cost. As for the flowers I would go to a florist and try getting a custom made bouquet with your partners favourite flowers incorporated. If you don't know what they are then red roses are always good!

Perfume

It's pretty much guaranteed that a lady would love to receive a lovely fragrance for Valentines, my picks are a variation of classic and new. I would suggest shopping around, this time of year there are offers on perfumes and you can normally get a bit of a discount. So here they are...

Ralph Lauren Romance, this is the ultimate Valentines fragrance it's sweet, floral and feminine and a classic which never dates. Also there is normally an offer with this fragrance for Valentines, you can usually get a free box of chocolates with it...so 2 gifts for the price of 1! You really can't go wrong with it.

J'adore by Christian Dior is another great classic fragrance for Valentines, if you didn't know it means love! :-) It' a floral fragrance which is sophisticated, glamorous and feminine, a great combination in a very popular perfume. The bottle is very elegant too and us girls love to have pretty bottles to put on our dressing tables. It is a bit more pricey but well worth it if you have the budget, I would highly recommend it.

Finally there's Valentina by Valentino, this is a new fragrance but amazing nonetheless. It is a sensual floral which is lovely on the skin, the bottle is also beautifully designed with ceramic flowers on in. So it looks great and smells divine, this would be a great one if your partner has all the classics and would prefer something modern and feminine.

Candles

Candles are a great gift idea, they last for ages and they smell lovely and create a great atmosphere. A bit of Jo Malone would go down great, there a bit more expensive but the quality is amazing. One I would recommend is 'Pomegranate Noir' which is a fruity fragrance with a mix of spice (£38 here). Also great are Yankee candles, I love the 'Mango Peach Salsa' it's a fruity smell as the name would suggest. The bigger candles are better value and they have a stronger smell so they would be a great choice. You can normally get them in Clinton's but I would check on line as you can sometimes find them cheaper.

Jewellery
A nice piece of jewellery can get you major bonus points, and it doesn't have to cost a lot of money either. This can be a necklace, bracelet, ring etc. and you can buy things from Debenhams or spend a bit more in a Jewellers like Swarovski who do crystal jewellery. Warren Jame does cheaper jewellery which are lovely. A pair of drop earrings is a good idea and can be worn with many outfits, or you could go for a pendant with a nice coloured stone, red being the obvious colour.

This one is from Swarovski for £133
(here)
You can get these on sale from Warren James
 for £24.99 (here)

Cards
It always shows your thoughtful if you get your partner something personalised, they will treasure it forever and love you for doing something personal. Now this doesn't have to be something big or expensive, you can just get her a personalised card. I'm sure you've seen the adverts for Moonpig, so head on over. They have a wide selection of designs to choose from and you can add your own text (her name), a poem even a picture. (click here)

Hope this has been helpful, do let me know your thoughts.

Valentines Gifts - For Him

Hi all!

So its February which can only mean one thing 'love is in the air.. tu ru ru.. love is in the air', sorry couldn't help it ;-). Anyhoo I thought maybe I could do a gift guide for what to get the man in your life.

Fragrance

I guess this is the obvious choice for many ladies out there, guys generally like to smell nice and I find they are getting more and more vain about the way they look and smell. Sometimes they take longer to get ready than us! Now that's just not right. lol. My picks are as follows...

If your partner likes classic fragrances I would recommend Dolce and Gabbana The One, this is an amazing fragrance. It's a woody oriental fragrance with notes of cardamom, cedar wood and tobacco, you really cant go wrong with this it's such a manly smell.

For someone who loves modern sweet fragrances I would recommend Carolina Herrera 212 VIP, this has notes of vodka, frozen mint and lime caviar. If they like 1 Million by Paco Rabanne then they will love this, and as everyone seems to have 1 Million this would be the perfect alternative.

Finally for someone who loves a fresh clean fragrance there's Bleu de Chanel, the newest offering by Chanel. This is by far my favourite out of all the Chanel fragrances for men, it has notes of citrus accord, grapefruit and sandalwood and is young and fresh yet masculine and I think such a perfect modern fragrance.

Blu-Ray Discs

Guys love to watch films, and a DVD of their fav film or T.V series would keep them happy and entertained for a while. Try to go for an action, or thriller or comedy, unless they really love rom-coms I wouldn't suggest buying one. If your stuck for ideas I would suggest the Die Hard franchise as all men love this, it's a classic they can watch again and again. Also if you can get it on Blu-Ray as the quality is way better and they'll appreciate it more.

Grooming Products

This is one gift which your partner would get a lot of use out of, it's something they do daily and it's a really practical gift. I would suggest an electric shaver which comes with different heads so it can used on beards or to clean shave or trim. You can get so many different ones, it really depends on your budget, you really don't have to spend a fortune to get a good one. And to be honest you'll benefit from this too as he'll have no excuse to look scruffy anymore! lol

Accessories

Men like to accessorise, let's not lie about it, they love bracelets, bags, cufflinks, scarfs etc, so why not get one of these for him. I think this is a really great idea and it doesn't have to break the bank, you can get really cool inexpensive items from the high street that he would love. Have a look in Top Man or River Island they are always great for these kinds of things. Or if you want to spend a bit more than larger department stores like John Lewis or House of Fraser, they stock great designer gifts from brands such as Ralph Lauren and Paul Smith.

So these are my picks for Valentines gifts for men, I hope it has been useful to you all. Let me know what you think, would you buy any of these? Also look out for my Valentines Gift's for Her coming up next! :-)
